In 2026, the Foundation awarded $100,000 in scholarships to undergraduate and graduate-level college and university students. Scholarships are awarded competitively and by faculty nomination. Check back in November 2026 for application information.

Science Teacher Excellence in Teaching Award

The Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists and the Foundation annually provide cash awards to K-12 science teachers and their schools to recognize and encourage teaching excellence.

Publications Grants

We provide cash grants to students needing assistance to defray the costs of publishing their work in accredited journals.

Grants to Students and Institutions

The Foundation provides tuition assistance to students attending scientific conferences and industry symposia.

The Foundation supports the Colorado Science & Engineering Fair

The Foundation is a long-time supporter of the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair. We provide cash awards to winners in the Excellence in Earth Science category.

The Foundation is pleased to present the SM Energy Scholars Award

The award recognizes exceptional work done by students conducting research in petroleum geology or geophysics at US-based institutions.

The RMAG Foundation celebrated it’s 50th anniversary in 2025. Over the years, the Foundation has contributed many thousands of dollars in scholarships to students and supported numerous organizations.
