The response for graduate research scholarships for 2017–2018 has been the largest in the history of the Foundation. Graduate student from Indiana to Midcontinent, to Texas, and across all the Rocky Mountain states, as well as rising seniors at Colorado College, applied for scholarships. The quality of the proposals is excellent and reflects active student research mainly on topics in petroleum geology, but also in mineralogy, metamorphism, and surficial geological processes. The breadth of studies is remarkable — a credit to the quality of graduate education in the earth sciences at universities represented by the applicants. The Foundation thanks all of the graduate student applicants for their efforts in preparing proposals as well as their advisors for supporting the students with letters of recommendation. The application deadline has now passed.
The application deadline for undergraduate seniors and rising seniors at Colorado College remains open to February 22, 2017. The Philip J. McKenna Memorial Scholarship is specifically for students at the College.
